Reddit Roundup Pokémon TCG Reddit: 30th Celebration Singles Crashed, the RGB Mews Didn't
Each week we read the busiest Pokémon TCG corners of Reddit and put verified Catchinary price data next to the conversation. Two weeks ago r/PokemonInvesting was insisting the 30th Celebration market would hold. This week of October 11, 2026 the most talked-about thread on Pokémon TCG Reddit was titled "30th single prices are crashing," and our numbers say it was right about the special illustration rares and wrong about the cards at the very top of the set.
Key takeaways
- "30th single prices are crashing" was the week's biggest discussion on r/PokemonTCG at 846 comments, and the data backs it. The Mew ex special illustration rare fell from $154.79 to $87.74 in two weeks.
- The Jirachi ex special illustration rare dropped hardest of the cards we tracked, from $117.70 to $49.86.
- The RGB Mews held up. Green went from $3,574.75 to $3,738.75, and Red now has its first market read at $6,000.27.
- r/PokemonInvesting spent the week debating whether vintage is at a top, anchored by a 1st Edition Blaine's Charizard PSA 10 that went from £4,500 to £2,000 to a reported £29,000.
- A Phantom Forces Gengar-EX that "spiked 2x 3x overnight" was mostly called a pump in the comments. Raw copies read $78.17 on Catchinary.
- Prismatic Evolutions Moonbreon kept sliding, from $1,384.05 to $1,285.31.
The 30th Celebration slide reached the chase cards
The busiest thread on Pokémon TCG Reddit this week had no text at all. "30th single prices are crashing" was a screenshot, and it collected 3,777 upvotes and 846 comments on r/PokemonTCG. The top explanation, at 852 upvotes, was that booster bundles had just come out with the same generous pull rates, and that 25th Celebrations followed the same path. Another reply, at 232, said to wait for the Ultra Premium Collections, since a lot of 30th product has not even shipped yet. Most of the thread was happy about it. The top-voted reply that was not a gif came from someone hoping to land the three legendary birds for $5 each, and their edit said they managed it.
They were not far off. The illustration rare Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres read $6.76, $6.25 and $6.72 on Catchinary today. The bigger moves are higher up the set. When we wrote the September 27 roundup, the Mew ex special illustration rare was $154.79. It reads $87.74 now, down about 43 percent. The Jirachi ex special illustration rare went from $117.70 to $49.86, a 58 percent drop, and the Classic Collection Magikarp that r/PokemonTCG loved two weeks ago slipped from $107.21 to $87.75. The Gengar ex and Mewtwo ex special illustration rares sit at $76.15 and $59.03.
The odd part is that plenty of people still cannot find the product. "Raise your hand if you still have opened zero packs of the 30th Anniversary" drew 415 comments, with one person describing a single elite trainer box at a local shop priced at $500. The top reply, at 405 upvotes, was a running joke about being told to chill for two days, then two weeks, then two years. A post titled "Went out and spent $175 on this box" got 1,666 upvotes and 485 comments, and the top reply, at 1,285, was a single line telling them to stop supporting scalpers. Singles are cheap and sealed is scarce at the same time, which is what you get when a set pulls well and the shelves stay empty.

The RGB Mews went the other way
r/PokemonInvesting's top post of the week, at 1,153 upvotes and 405 comments, was a joke. A poster showed off four copies of the same 30th Celebration Mew pull with the title "The fact that I have 4 of these tells me they're gonna be worth a dollar pretty soon." The top reply, at 185, mocked the idea that they "only ripped 1000 packs." Another, at 43, said they knew people who had opened 300 packs without a single Futuristic Rare. One reply at 18 upvotes made the call that the data now supports: once every product is out, the only chase in this set that keeps its value will be the RGB Mews.
Two weeks ago only the Green version had a market price. Today all three do. The Red Mew reads $6,000.27, the Green Mew reads $3,738.75, up from $3,574.75 on September 27, and the Blue Mew reads $1,702.50. In the same two weeks the special illustration rares lost between 18 and 58 percent. The Mew ex Futuristic Rare that the four-copy thread kept circling reads $62.04. If you are buying 30th singles to hold, that split matters more than any one price: the set's mid-tier chase cards are behaving like a normal high-supply set, and only the RGB Mews look scarce so far.

Is vintage at the top? r/PokemonInvesting can't agree
The best post on r/PokemonInvesting this week was a long warning. Titled "To those looking to invest in vintage in all time highs," it came from someone who bought a PSA 10 1st Edition Blaine's Charizard for £4,500 in 2021, watched it fall to around £2,000, and saw the same card sell for £29,000 a few days ago. Their advice: if you buy a Gold Star at $20,000 to $30,000 right now, be ready to sit through a 50 percent drop, and only buy if your horizon is five to ten years. The top reply, at 48 upvotes, called it solid advice for a change. Raw, the 1st Edition Blaine's Charizard reads $699.99 on Catchinary, which shows how much of that £29,000 is the grade.
Two more threads pushed the bear case. "I think this is gonna piss a lot of ppl off..." drew 148 comments with a prediction that vintage falls back to 2025 levels within two years. A vendor in the replies said the asks at their Friday show were running 120 percent of market or more. In "Vintage boom legit or no?" the top reply, at 60 upvotes, came from someone who sold six PSA 8 Lv.X cards for $21,000 combined this week after buying them in the summer for under $300 each. That is the Lv.X run we covered two weeks ago, cashed out.
The Gold Stars we priced then have not moved on Catchinary. The Deoxys Rayquaza Gold Star still reads $2,500.99 raw and the Holon Phantoms Gyarados Gold Star still reads $1,333.56. Flat raw prices next to big graded sales usually mean few raw copies are trading, so treat both numbers as stale until new sales print.

Sealed holders felt left behind
"Buy sealed they said..." drew 158 comments from someone who held modern sealed while vintage ran. The top reply, at 83 upvotes, was blunt: never trust advice on that subreddit, since everyone has a stake in what they recommend. A more hopeful reply laid out an order of events where singles and slabs pop first and sealed follows. In "Why are people panic selling? We've already been through this in 2021," the poster pointed out that Crown Zenith sat on shelves from 2022 to 2024 and has since gone up about tenfold. The Crown Zenith Giratina VSTAR reads $290.03 on Catchinary.
Modern singles were soft too. The Prismatic Evolutions Umbreon ex slid again, from $1,384.05 two weeks ago to $1,285.31. In a thread asking which ultra-modern cards have the most room to grow, the top reply at 29 upvotes picked Simplified Chinese exclusives and the Lost Origin Giratina, which it said has half the PSA 10 population of Moonbreon. The second most popular answer, at 20, said most modern cards are headed for a slow pullback, much like the years after the pandemic boom.

The Gengar-EX that doubled overnight
Saturday night a post asked "what the hell is going on with this card? It spiked to 2x 3x overnight?!" about a PSA 10 Gengar-EX from the XY era. It drew 76 comments, and the useful ones were skeptical. One commenter noted copies being bid higher at auction than the buy-it-now listings sitting right next to them, which they called a classic sign of a pump. Another said they had seen this exact post all week with a different card each time. One reply even said they had been buying the card for months and now held 75 copies.
The numbers people quoted line up with the regular Phantom Forces Gengar-EX. One commenter bought a raw copy for $80 last week, and Catchinary reads it at $78.17 raw today. Another posted a $650 PSA 10 purchase from September 25, when they said the market was $720. A raw price that has not moved next to a slab price that suddenly doubled points at a few buyers cleaning out listings. The full art Phantom Forces Gengar-EX is the pricier version at $765.03 raw, if that is the one you meant to look up.

Away from the spreadsheet
r/PokemonTCG's top post overall was "More pairs like these?" at 5,425 upvotes, people sharing cards that look like matched sets. "Same Meowth, two different booster bundles, completely different print tones" took 2,400 upvotes, and the comments filled with more 30th Celebration print variation photos. One reply from someone who works at a professional printer said they got an odd joy from watching people learn how finicky color is on these machines. A post noting the first Pokémon cards in space, sent up alongside a Pikachu plush on the ISS, got 1,973 upvotes.
r/pkmntcgcollections had a full 1st Edition Base Set holo run, every card graded PSA 1, at 467 upvotes. A complete Gold Star collection that has lived in binders for over ten years took 268, with one commenter cheering the return of "ungraded gems." r/PokemonTCGDeals returned no top posts for the week when we pulled it. If you are shopping, the set pages list current market prices for every card, and the card database covers any single you want to check before paying for it.

FAQ
What is Pokémon TCG Reddit talking about this week?
The 30th Celebration price slide. A post titled "30th single prices are crashing" pulled 3,777 upvotes and 846 comments on r/PokemonTCG, the most-discussed thread across the four subs we track. On r/PokemonInvesting the talk was split between that slide and a vintage market that many posters think is near a top, plus one Gengar-EX that jumped overnight and was widely called a pump.
Are 30th Celebration card prices crashing?
The special illustration rares are. Between our September 27 roundup and October 11, 2026, Catchinary's TCGplayer market reference for the Mew ex special illustration rare fell from $154.79 to $87.74, and the Jirachi ex special illustration rare fell from $117.70 to $49.86. The three legendary bird illustration rares all sit between $6.25 and $6.76. The RGB Mews went the other way, with the Green version moving from $3,574.75 to $3,738.75.
How much are the 30th Celebration RGB Mews worth?
As of October 11, 2026, Catchinary shows the Red Mew at $6,000.27, the Green Mew at $3,738.75 and the Blue Mew at $1,702.50 market, from TCGplayer data. Two weeks ago only the Green version had a market price at all.
Is the vintage Pokémon card boom going to last?
r/PokemonInvesting is split. One poster who bought a PSA 10 1st Edition Blaine's Charizard for £4,500 in 2021 watched it fall near £2,000 before a recent £29,000 sale, and warned that buyers at today's prices should expect drawdowns of up to 50 percent. Another poster sold six PSA 8 Lv.X cards for $21,000 after buying them for under $300 each this summer. Nobody in the threads claimed to know where the top is.
Why did the Phantom Forces Gengar-EX spike?
The r/PokemonInvesting thread did not find a real catalyst. Commenters pointed to PSA 10 copies being bid higher at auction than the available buy-it-now listings, a classic sign of a pump, and one buyer posted a $650 PSA 10 purchase from September 25. Raw, the regular Phantom Forces Gengar-EX reads $78.17 on Catchinary, in line with the $80 a commenter said they paid last week.
